Doctoral Researcher, University of Cambridge

Wen Liu

Wen Liu joined the CSDGC at Stanford University as a Visiting Researcher in April 2018 for a three-month visit to investigate the disruptive effects of 3D printing on industrial systems and the environmental sustainability performance of 3D printing technology.

Wen Liu is a doctoral researcher supervised by Professor Steve Evans at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge. He holds an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development at Cambridge. Before coming to Cambridge, he obtained an MSc in Materials Science and Engineering Management at Johns Hopkins University where he was awarded the Dean's Fellowship. He earned his BEng degree in Materials Science and Engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. He is a member of the China 3D Printing Technology Alliance and Shanghai Additive Manufacturing Association.

His research includes 3D printing value creation, reusing and recycling 3D printed materials and developing a theoretical framework to identify failed value exchange, and better understand the sustainability implications of 3D printing technology.
