Raymond Jian

Starting December 2014 for twelve months, Raymond Jian Weiwen will be a CSDGC Strategic Partner Visiting Scholar at Stanford University researching the sustainable development of the Chinese auto wheel industry. He will investigate how to enable change in the China wheel industry with consideration to scale and efficiency issues. He will focus on the integration of soft technology from the outside (including information technology, data science and knowledge management tools) and hard technology from the enterprise itself (including technical innovation, automation, and lean production).

Raymond received a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the South China University of Technology (SCUT) in 1983, and a Master’s Degree in 1988 after serving the Guangdong Machinery Research Institute for two years. In 1997, he studied modern advanced management at the National University of Singapore.

In 1990, Raymond established the Foshan Nanhai Superband Mould Co., Ltd which is currently one of the largest auto wheel manufacturers in the world. Later, he founded the Guangdong Elecpro Electrical Appliance Holding Co., Ltd which was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2008.
